Camelia Scafes

Camelia V. Scafes is a Vienna-based artist, author and speaker with Romanian roots. Born and raised between the landscapes of the Romanian Carpathians and the realities of a strict communist regime, her life journey has been shaped by migration, transformation and the search for freedom.

As a child, she escaped into imagination — shaping stories out of clouds and dreaming of worlds beyond the visible horizon. These inner landscapes continue to live within her paintings today.

After completing her law studies in Vienna, she worked internationally in business and consulting. Beneath the structured world of logic and systems, the language of imagination and inner vision remained alive.Her self-taught paintings combine surreal landscapes, memory, symbolism and emotional transformation. Each work carries traces of remembrance, freedom and hope, inviting viewers to rediscover hidden parts of themselves beyond the visible world.
