is a Visual Artist from Palawan Province, The Philippines. He discovered his relationship to Art through Art Therapy workshops as part of his rehabilitation program against depression and has continued as a self-taught artist.
His work mirrors and represents the mega biodiversity of the Philippine ecosystem drawn from his childhood and memories of life in the islands. His experience in fieldwork for the local government working alongside indigenous and grassroots communities in Palawan have greatly influenced his themes and reflect the intertwining divergent coexistence of nature and culture and its precarious balance.
Balcos graduated from Ateneo de Cagayan Xavier University with a Bachelor degree in Agri Sciences and studied Master in Science in Intl Horticulture from the Univ of Life and Applied Sciences (BOKU) Vienna, Austria.
He also has a Diploma in Rural Agriculture from Australia. Member of Phil. Botanical Art Society. Member of International Society for Educators in Art.
His recent Exhibit was sponsored and endorsed by UNESCO Club Vienna and Earth Charter Austria.
