For thousands of years, earth pigments and materials were taken from nature and the knowledge of color formulations and material mixtures was passed down from generation to generation. The three artists would like to recall this tradition - which was interrupted in Europe by industrialization.
Pogačnik, Ráček and Windhager.
Anita Windhager uses casein colors produced in a natural way in the old tradition, but which have a surprisingly contemporary effect. The artist applies them in many layers glazed on fine raw canvas and thus gives the pictorial space timeless validity. Thus, idiosyncratic, emotionally charged compositions are created.
Windhager passes on the handling of self-produced casein paint with natural pigments in workshops (also for children) and painting courses.
Irena Ráček`s works show grounding. She extracts her earth pigments from homesites of ancient human civilization and archaeological excavations. The knowledge of the oldest painting techniques of mankind are passed on by her in EU projects "Painting with the colors of the earth", and numerous workshops at home and abroad. In the NV Gallery are also shown pictures that were used as illustrations for the anthology "My Weinviertel".
Maja Pogačnik devotes her artistic work entirely to nature, the landscape and the earth. She tunes into a place and gives it shape in a work of art made only from natural materials. For her paintings she uses only natural pigments, bound with casein, for her spatial installations mainly paper, bamboo and stones.
She tries to give expression to what she feels with the simplest means of creative language. Softly running lines, structures and shades show themselves as an expression of fine energetic essence and as vibrations of the landscape and its individual elements.
