Alex Fe has been creative since childhood, which was fortunate, because it allowed her to earn money before she was old enough to have a proper job. She intended to walk along the creative path… until life gently whispered to her: “Maybe study something practical?” So she did. Business Administration. An MBA. An international career. Very down-to-earth, very grounded - and perfectly suited to keep her from floating permanently on cloud nine, where she actually feels more at home. Eventually, she returned to Austria, began teaching marketing and business planning, and realized that students are just like art: surprising, sometimes chaotic, and best enjoyed with patience and a good dose of caffeine. Meanwhile, Alex Fe’s creativity refused to be quiet. She developed her own artistic style: countless small shapes that come together to form a large whole. Her process starts with clear contours, after which the many microstructures emerge intuitively and meditatively – a blend of calm, spontaeity, and an excellent excuse to ignore the housework. Today, in her fifties, Alex Fe has accepted that she is a walking contradiction: creative yet structured, gifted in languages and yet sometimes speechless, fascinated by human characters and - by some twist of fate - married to one of the more adventurous specimens. Her art is her way of making (non)sense of life, people, and the ongoing contradiction between passion and reason.
