Lucie Hanyková (b. 1970, Ostrava) is a Czech contemporary artist living and working near Prague. Her practice is characterised by a distinctive expressive language rooted in bold colour, dynamic gesture, layered structures and symbolism. She combines oil painting with other techniques, freely crossing the boundaries between figuration and abstraction. Her paintings incorporate elements of Expressionism, Fauvism, Futurism and Constructivism, which she ultimately subjects to her own distinctive way of seeing.
At the heart of her work is the human being and the inner world – emotions, relationships, values, inner transformation and forces that remain hidden beneath the surface of everyday experience. She seeks to reveal what is not immediately visible, translating elusive feelings and thoughts into visual form through colour, gesture and symbolism.
Hanyková exhibits in the Czech Republic and internationally, and her works are held in private collections at home and abroad.
