Amanda Mottorn is an American artist, author, and founder of Modern Journeyer. Her work is shaped by travel, observation, and nature. Working across watercolor, charcoal, acrylic, and oil with cold wax, gold and silver leaf, she creates layered paintings that move between abstraction and representation, often inspired by landscapes and architecture.

She is the creator of Creative Play for Adults, an international series of retreats and guided experiences rooted in her vision to help people find self-acceptance through creative expression and travel. She also writes about her experiences as a painter, creative facilitator, and entrepreneur in The Modern Journeyer on Substack.

Mottorn has exhibited internationally in Vienna, Paris, Berlin, Dubai, Venice, and New York. After a two-decade career in corporate sales, she returned to creative practice in 2021, publishing her novel Finding Moksha: One Woman’s Path in Uncertain Times and studying painting in Rome under Carole Robb.
