Darren Gilbert

Originally from Dublin, Ireland, and now living in Vienna, Darren Gilbert completed a degree in Visual Investigation, Drawing and Fine Art Research at the National College of Art, Design and Architecture (NCAD) in Dublin in 2007, having previously worked and exhibited in his home town of Lucan. Since then, he has exhibited in a number of exhibitions and galleries, and had the pleasure of presenting the President of Ireland and his wife with a piece to commemorate their visit to Vienna in 2022.

His work moves between drawing and painting, sometimes blurring the boundaries between the two styles, or incorporating elements of both as a result of his visual, investigative and experimental approach. This results in finished works in a variety of styles and media, either as part of a series or as stand-alone pieces. His work often reflects on and raises questions about modern society and life.
