In 1974, as a girl of Czech and Croatian descent, I was born into a somewhat chaotic household in Vöcklabruck. I soon began to doodle, paint and draw, until the school system put a stop to it. I became a biomedical laboratory technician, studied archaeology and trained as a yoga instructor. During all that time, I produced perhaps four pictures that (almost) nobody ever saw. In November 2023, I stumbled upon a drawing course, simply to see what would happen. Since then, I haven’t stopped painting and drawing. Whatever is on my mind or moves me is transformed into a picture, though I usually don’t know myself what will come next. The freedom I find in painting thus offers the perfect balance to my strictly regimented work at the hospital.
