For thousands of years, earth pigments and materials were taken from nature and the knowledge of colour formulations and material mixtures was passed on from generation to generation. The three artists would like to recall this tradition - which was interrupted in Europe by industrialisation.
Pogačnik, Ráček and Windhager.
Anita Windhager uses casein colours produced naturally in the old tradition, but with a surprisingly contemporary effect. The artist applies them in many layers of glazing on fine raw canvas and thus lends timeless validity to the pictorial space. The result is idiosyncratic, emotionally charged compositions.
Windhager passes on the handling of self-produced casein paint with natural pigments in workshops (also for children) and painting courses.

Irena Ráček`s works show grounding. She obtains her earth pigments from the home sites of ancient human civilisation and archaeological excavations. She passes on her knowledge of the oldest painting techniques of mankind in EU projects "Painting with the Colours of the Earth", and numerous workshops at home and abroad. The NV Gallery also shows pictures that were used as illustrations for the anthology "Mein Weinviertel".

Maja Pogačnik devotes her artistic work entirely to nature, the landscape and the earth. She attunes herself to a place and gives it shape in a work of art made only from natural materials. For her paintings she uses exclusively natural pigments bound with casein, for her spatial installations mainly paper, bamboo and stones.
She tries to express what she feels with the simplest means of creative language. Softly running lines, structures and shadings show themselves as an expression of fine energetic essence and as vibrations of the landscape and its individual elements.
