Leonardo da Vinci, the artist, architect, thinker, engineer, philosopher and doctor went down in history as the epitome of the universal genius. Today, his name is closely associated with the portrait of the Mona Lisa and other famous paintings, and not only among people interested in art. Although Leonardo da Vinci created some of the most important and at the same time most innovative works of the Renaissance, his achievements go far beyond his artistic output. His sketches and studies bear witness to a man who, as early as the 15th century, was intensively engaged with cutting-edge technical solutions that were only implemented many centuries later by other visionaries and revolutionised the human world.
