Ever since my youth, I have been fascinated by scientific subjects and art. At the age of 14, I first became acquainted with the microcosm. And – the hidden and the colourful captivated me. Professionally, I was involved in the development of paints and coatings. Pigments were therefore part of my colourful everyday life. It was in this context that I had my first artistic experiences. The microcosm presented itself as far more mysterious. I had to engage with it very intensively. It was not until 1999 that I was able to make its world visible enough for it to find its way into art. From then on, I was able to develop bacteriography and, subsequently, bacterioaesthetics.
